Ivan Herrera, MSW, LCSW
Ivan is versed in trauma informed care, motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy informed strategies as well as reducing harm treatment modalities and has extensive history working with the Autistic population. Ivan has experience working with various age groups from children to seniors on various mental health, emotional challenges that includes communication, intimacy, postpartum depression, addiction, family or generational trauma, parenting challenges as well as processing historic childhood traumas and the impact on current functioning.
Ivan’s therapeutic approach is based on a collaborative effort between the patient and the clinician with an emphasis on the patient as an “expert” of their current dynamics, challenges, and history. Ivan supports patients to help them identify the core, root challenge that is influencing distress. Ivan focuses on defensive mechanisms that may be influencing emotional deregulation. Ivan has worked with multiple diverse ethnicities, social groups, LGBTQ community, immigrant cultures, focusing on respect the uniqueness of individuals and void of judgment.
